How to prepare Hemp Milk

Hemp milk can be an excellent substitute for cow's milk. Hemp milk also has the advantage of being lactose-free and gluten-free . The milk we make at home may be different in taste from the one you buy at the store. Usually the latter can contain different additives and more sugars. Hemp milk can be used as an adjunct to müsli or granola, you can add it to a green smut or drink it as a stand-alone smoothie.

What we need – ingredients:

– 2 handfuls of hemp seeds
– 1 litre of water
– Salt
– sweetener
Preparation:
Hemp seeds are soam by water for at least 6 hours. Then the seeds are washed away and rinsed. Grind them with some water and then boil them with water. If desired you can add some salt or sweeteners. Cook the seeds on a moderate heat for at least 30 minutes and stir them repeatedly. When the milk is cooked, cross it through the gauze or a dense coheer. We can store it in the cold for a few days.

Versions:
1. We can add prunes to hemp seeds, which we have also wet for a few hours. Grind them together with seeds and cook them. So the milk is more creamy and has a stuffed, slightly sweet taste.
2. Any fruit or spices (e.g. cinnamon, cardamom, nutmeg or vanilla) may be added to milk during cooking.
3. Finely ground hemp powder may also be added to chilled hemp milk.
Enjoy your meal!
